what precautions should be taken when using submersible pumps?

2025-03-21

Submersible pumps have been widely used, but do you know that if they are used improperly, it is easy to cause danger. Next, let me tell you what precautions should be taken when using submersible pumps?

It is a requirement of the national mandatory standard that submersible pumps adopt protective grounding. Only by taking protective grounding can personal safety be ensured during use. If there is no protective grounding, once the shell leaks electricity, the water at the outlet of the submersible pump and the surface of the water being pumped will be electrified, endangering people's safety.

Submersible pumps

If the metal shell of the submersible pump is grounded to a grounding body that meets national standards (the grounding resistance is not greater than 4Ω), when the submersible pump shell leaks electricity, the current forms a closed loop through the metal shell of the submersible pump, the protective grounding wire, the grounding body, the earth, the working grounding wire of the transformer and the power supply. When the leakage current is too large, especially when the live wire touches the shell, the protection device of the submersible pump can be activated (the fuse is blown or the air switch is tripped), and the power supply of the leakage submersible pump can be cut off.

Not installing a leakage protector

Submersible pumps work in water, and it is easy to leak electricity, causing power loss and even electric shock accidents. If a leakage protector is installed, as long as the leakage value of the submersible pump exceeds the operating current value of the leakage protector (generally not more than 30 mA), the leakage protector will cut off the power supply of the submersible pump.

Motor rotates in the opposite direction

Now there are many types of submersible pumps that can discharge water in both forward and reverse rotation, but the water output is small and the current is large when reversing. Long reversal time will damage the motor winding. Therefore, before the submersible electric pump enters the water, the power supply should be connected to check whether the rotation direction is correct. If the impeller of the three-phase submersible pump reverses, it should be stopped immediately and the wiring of any two phases of the three-phase core wires in the cable can be replaced.

Long-term unattended placement in water after disuse

If the submersible pump is not used continuously after going down the well, it will rust over time and cannot be started.

The disused submersible pump should never be left in the water and should be turned on once a week and run for 5 to 10 minutes.

When not in use for a long time, do not soak it in water for a long time. Put it in clean water and run it for a few minutes to clean the mud inside and outside the pump. Then take it out of the water and wipe it dry. Conduct a major inspection, disassemble all parts for inspection, scrub, remove rust and scale, replace wearing parts, reassemble it, paint it to prevent rust, and place it in a dry warehouse without corrosive gas.
